AFC East team football NFL for fans
The AFC East
is a division of the National Football League (NFL). It was created before the 1970 AFL-NFL merger after the NFL merged with the American Football League (AFL).
The AFC East teams
are Miami Dolphins
, New England Patriots, New York Jets, and Buffalo Bills.
The team with the best record in the division will play against one other team with the best record in another division in a playoff game that will decide who will be crowned champion of their conference. The two champions will then play each other to crown one champion for the entire NFL.
AFC East teams
The AFC East is a division of the National Football League's American Football Conference. It has four AFC East football nfl teams
members: Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots
, and New York Jets.
Since the division's enfranchisement in 1960, with the creation of the American Football League, the division has been represented in thirteen Super Bowls and has sent a total of twenty-five teams to the playoffs. The most recent appearance in the Super Bowl by an AFC East team was the Patriots victory in Super Bowl LIII, representing the 2018 season. The most recent Super Bowl appearance by an AFC East team prior to that was New England winning their second championship in three years at Super Bowl LI; Miami had won two consecutive championships at Super Bowls VII and VIII before that.
AFC East standings
The NFL's AFC East standings
has been dominated by the New England Patriots for years, but this season the Miami Dolphins are finally giving them a run for their money.
Both teams currently sit at 7 wins and 3 losses, but New England's recent struggles with injuries have given the Dolphins an opportunity to close the gap. The Patriots will be without two of their key players for an undetermined amount of time: wide receiver Julian Edelman is out with a foot injury and tight end Rob Gronkowski has undergone back surgery to repair a disc in his spine. With those two players out, Tom Brady has relied on running back Dion Lewis and receivers Danny Amendola and Malcolm Mitchell to compensate for their absence.
The Dolphins have also suffered a number of injuries this season, most notably to running back Arian Foster, who is out with a torn hamstring, and cornerback Byron Maxwell, who is out with an ankle injury. Miami's backup players, like running back Jay Ajayi and cornerback Tony Lippett, have stepped up in place of injured starters.
It will be interesting to see how these two teams continue to fare against each other as the season progresses and their injured players return to the field.
AFC East champion
The AFC East is one of the toughest divisions in the NFL—and it's home to some pretty talented teams, too. The current champions of the AFC East
are the Bills, who won back-to-back division titles in 2020 and 2021. Previously, the Patriots had won eleven consecutively from 2009 through 2019.
The Bills AFC east champions
are led by quarterback Josh Allen and wide receiver Stefon Diggs, while the Patriots have impressive talent on both sides of the ball. The Miami Dolphins finished last season with a 10–6 record and clinched a playoff spot for the first time since 2016.

Think you can predict the result of the AFC East football season?
With the official kickoff of the 2016 NFL season just a week away, we take a look at the last ten years of results for each team in the AFC East to see if anyone can predict what's in store for this year.
In 2013, the Buffalo Bills
were riding high off their first playoff win ever and had high expectations for their defense and new head coach Doug Marrone. They won only six football NFL game that year, though, and Marrone resigned at the end of their season.
The Miami Dolphins have made some exciting moves in recent years, including adding wide receiver Mike Wallace and defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh. The Dolphins haven't been quite so successful as they'd hoped with these new additions—they've only made it to the playoffs three times since 2003.
The New England Patriots are easily the most successful team in this AFC East division
—the Patriots have won five Super Bowls in that time period, although Tom Brady has missed time due to injury or suspension.
The New York Jets
have been particularly disappointing in recent years—they've had only one winning season since 2010 and haven't reached the playoffs since 2011.
Will anyone be able to claim the title of NFL champions this year?

AFC East football NFL games
The season is still young, but we're starting to get a clearer picture of the AFC East's strengths and weaknesses. Let's take a look at the landscape at this point in the season.
The Dolphins lead the division with three wins and two losses. They have an offense that relies on their running back for big gains, as well as a quarterback who is not afraid to make big throws downfield. Their defense will need to step up if they want to keep pace with some of their stronger opponents.
The Patriots are right behind them in second place; they also have three wins, but they have only played four football NFL games
thus far, so they have room to improve their record as the season progresses. The Patriots' defense has been solid all year long, as you would expect from an organization known for its defensive prowess. Offensively, Tom Brady and his receiving corp have been prolific, making up for the lack of a consistent running game.
AFC East odds
When the Buffalo Bills take on the New England Patriots this Sunday, they'll have a lot more on the line than just the AFC East title. Not only will the winner snag a spot in the playoffs and a first-round bye, but their AFC East odds
of winning the division will improve with every win or loss of their opponent.
So what does that mean for Bills fans? Well, as it stands right now, no one on the AFC East odds board has improved their odds as much as Buffalo. And despite what some may say about them, they've become a resilient bunch who are looking to come out swinging—just like a certain Mr. Biff Tannen once said (he was talking about his car, but still).
As for who'll nab hold of the top spot if both teams end up with 11 wins at season's end? Las Vegas is pretty split (no pun intended), but if you ask us? The only team who can stop them is themselves.
And barring that… well, we think it's time to go back to Vegas and do a little bit more gambling on our own team!
